Father’s Day – Leave A Legacy
Sunday is a big day for Fathers everywhere. I am sure this weekend is a big one for the likes of charcoal companies and butchers across the land. The gathering of families to celebrate the family head of state if you will. I know my personal history is that this is a day for being thankful for the love, the work and the leadership my father and grandfather’s gave to me.
I have actually lived more of my life without my father and grandfather’s because they passed when I was 2, 11 and 23. The fact that I am much older now and with children of my own makes me even more thankful for them as I can see things through their perspective much easier now.
I have a hope that everyone makes Father’s Day about leaving a legacy. It should be a day for men everywhere to take responsibility for their children, for their health, well-being and development. A strong, visible father is important to every child, young and old. Showing your child love and giving them reason to shoot for the stars is a valuable part of being a father.
I believe that each of has such a tremendous opportunity to leave behind a legacy of good from who we have been, what we’ve done, how we’ve done it and who we’ve touched. There should be no stronger legacy for a father than that of his children.
So fellow fathers out there, be proud of being a dad and take responsibility for your legacy, by being the best Dad you can be!
